Our friend Bev sent us a picture that her brother had taken while working in Antarctica.  I felt that the penguins looked empowering in the photo, and I knew I had to use this in one of my works.  I had so much fun completing the picture, I even named the penguins (Martin, Steve, Chevy, and Charlie).  This was going to be called “Martin and the Three Amigo’s”, but that was just too long.  Before print, I changed the name to Emperor Penguins.  This was completed in mid-2006, before any of the movies were released.
