This piece is the beginning of a series I call 'Magnolia Springs River Route'. Since 1912, People along the Magnolia River, Weeks Bay, Fish River, Nolte Creek, Eslava Creek, Weeks Creek are the only people in the country that receive their US Mail year round via mail boat delivery. I was lucky enough to be able to ride the route with the current Post Man. I took many pictures, and learned the history of the Magnolia Springs area. I loved this scene - especially the weather beaten mailbox. You can see where the flag has slowly worn off some of the letters and rust is beginning to show through. The wood grain on the dock was even weathered and sun-burned. I was also attracted to the tire bumper. And then, of course, the reflection from the water. I tried to have a little fun with the finishing touches on this one. I 'carved' my signature in the dock, and even put the minnow bucket under the boat. Thank you to the kind people living along the Magnolia Springs River Route, and to all the Mail Carriers who have kept the history of this route in tact. Enjoy!
